The Aztec Theatre: From the Archives
The Aztec Theatre, located on Main Street in Albany, Texas, was built in 1927 by Frank Whitney at a time when movies were still silent and an orchestra pit had to be constructed below the screen for the required piano. It has since been renovated twice, once in 1939 and again in 1994, and today continues to host a variety of events and shows.
This exhibit will include a wide variety of materials, ranging from original historical photographs which document the look of the building from the outside as well as renovation work done inside, along with original programs, ticket stubs, newspaper articles, and advertisements.
