Past, Current and Upcoming Events at The Old Jail Art Centre

The mission of The Old Jail Art Centre is to always be a cultural resource for the region.  They accomplish this through providing art, in its many forms, and through giving life to cultural and historical facts, entertaining residents as well as visitors.

Future Events:

  1. School is Out! Come to Jail, and have a fun Afternoon at The Old Jail Art Centre.  All Students between the ages of 5 and 13 (accompanied by an adult) are welcome.  Come enjoy a story, a hand craft, and a snack together.

  1. Home school; Family, Fun, Freaky Friday; Educators and students following home based schooling, are invited to our monthly family program. Adults and children can participate together in educating art-creation and meaningful gallery experiences.  All on our Free, Freaky Friday, Family, Fun-Filled afternoon.

Current Events:

  1. Tuesday Lunch break, Video Hour; Every second Tuesday, you can take a break from your usual luncheon activities, and come join us for an hour full of art conversations and artful videos. Videos range from culture documentaries, arts, historical art facts and much more.

Featuring this month:  A series of 2 documentary videos explaining, Vincent van Gogh, seen as one of the greatest artists of all times, but he only sold one painting during his lifetime.

Time:  12.00pm – 1.00pm

Past Events:

  1. Teacher Workshop: Bringing local history alive for all students.  This workshop will take you on a tour of historic locations and will conclude at The Old Jail Art Centre, where you will be given the opportunity to present coordinating lesson projects and plans.

Subjects will include Social Studies, and History.

Grades that can benefit, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11
