Junior Docents preparing for International Museum Day Art Carnival 2009
The Junior Docents are a group of eighth-through-twelfth-grade volunteers from Shackelford County. These teen volunteers gain first-hand knowledge of the inner workings of the museum. In addition to learning about art techniques, aesthetics and history, they are also trained to give tours at the museum. Furthermore, they help plan, organize and execute museum activities, such as the annual family festivals. Yet, their chief achievement each year is to plan, juror, and curate the annual student art show.
